  • Diamonds on your Finger…tips

Seen on the famous fingertips of Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears and Kelly Osbourne [above], Azature Pogosians black diamond nail polish wowed even the most fashion-jaded. Unfortunately, at $250,000 a bottle, most of us couldn’t get our hands on it. Until now.

The brand that brought us that very special black diamond lacquer has spent the months since figuring out how to deliver that level of luxe to the masses. Meet the Azature Black Diamond Collection, by the same LA-based fine jewelry designer who created the original look.

While the original bottle (there’s just one) was chock full of 267 carats of faceted black diamonds, WWD writes that each bottle in the new line will feature a small, black pavé diamond dropped in by hand. The designer, Azature Pogosian’s vison was “to have the talons of the masses dripping in diamonds,” the trade writes. It’s no surprise, then, that the craftsman, whose baubles have bedecked the likes of Rihanna and Beyoncé is known as “the Diamond King”.

A break from Pogosian’s love of black (and white!) diamonds, the colors in this collection are inspired by different types of diamonds, and will include red, pink, champagne, blue, green and canary. The permanent collection is still being expanded, and later this spring we can expect a launch that leans on the softer side, with lilac and gray among other pastel shades.

What ever happened to that one and only quarter-mill bottle? It’s still on view at Selfridges in London. “[It] has not sold yet,” Pogosian told WWD. If you blew all your bucks on that $91,500 Hermès T-shirt , or the diamond-dusted paint is still generally way too expensive, you can now mock the sparkly mani minus quite a few zeros. The new polishes are also available at Selfridges, as well as Kitson, Harvey Nichols Saudi Arabia, Ron Robinson, and Ron Herman Japan.

  • Breast Milk Jewelry…When Bottles Just aren’t Enough

We’ve followed a lot of unusual jewelry trends over the years but I’d have to say this one stopped me in my tracks this morning. A Rhode Island woman has figured out a way to encase breast milk in jewelry for moms…or I guess anyone else who fancies wearing breast milk jewelry.  Thanks to the Daily Beast for this distinctive story!

After struggling with breast-feeding her first child, Rhode Island mother of three Allicia Mogavero decided to commemorate the lactation process by turning her breast milk into wearable jewelry.

“The whole nursing experience was really profound for me. I was like, I wonder if I can preserve this. I wonder if there’s a way I can make it last forever,” she tells The Daily Beast.

Mogavero launched a website to help others do the same. Her so-called MommyMilk Creations are made by petrifying customers’ breast milk and encasing it in resin, which protects the hardened milk from shattering. The resins come in a range of shaped molds, including hearts, trees, and handprints, and can be customized to include a child’s name. Once the resin is cured, Mogavero then attaches chains to the molds so the pieces can be worn as necklaces, bracelets, and key chains.

  • Turkish Jewelry Trend in Hollywood

Looks like Hollywood is going to Turkey this season, as rising jeweler Milka Karaağaçlı becomes all the rage with such stars as Orlando Bloom, Madonna, Pink and Anne Hathaway. Karaağaçlı has taken part in the New York and Paris fashion weeks since 2010 and hopes to open stores in Europe and the U.S.

“Each model is born like a baby. I wear them at first, experience it and then put it up for sale,” says Karaağaçlı.

  • Eddie Borgo’s Jewelry Box

Where you store your jewelry is as important (okay, almost!) as your jewelry itself. Not only does a smart jewelry box keep your jewelry safe, it keeps it organized.

More on this work of art:

[Borgo’s jewelry box is] a structured carrier that features multiple storage trays, a beveled mirror and lock-and-go key, was modeled after a train case that Borgo’s mother used for travel. Decorated with custom hardware and covered in leather embossed to look like exotic skins — stingray or snake — the box comes in four colorways, including navy with gold metal embellishments (shown here). Inside, compartments accommodate sets of cuffs, smaller pendants, larger collars and necklaces. “For every piece in a modern jewelry collection,” Borgo explains.

  • Deana Carter’s Spectacular Grammy Jewelry

As JCK mentioned, there wasn’t any wildly new trends appearing on last night’s red carpets at the Grammys. But that didn’t mean the dazzle wasn’t sparkling.

My particular favorite? Deana Carter’s (country song nominees) intricate, romantic jewelry pairing, consisting of Zultanite and pink sapphire earrings and a Zultanite Cat’s Eye ring, both in 18k yellow gold. (Yellow gold was quite popular last night.)

The red carpet continues to dictate what jewelry trends will be hot in the upcoming months. Here are a few shots showcasing everything from long statement necklaces to jade.

  • Jewelry Highlights at the Golden Globe – from Simple to Sensational

What an award-winning night last night, huh? I don’t remember the last time the Golden Globes received such a buzz. As for the fashion and the jewelry, we saw everything from the understated like these stud earrings worn by actress Anne Hathaway:

    null

To the the over-the-top, as seen by Jessica Alba who sported this $5.7 million (gulp!) Harry Winston diamond necklace.

Here are a few other knockout necklaces:

  • Subtle Drop Earrings in 2013

When I reviewed this year’s trends in jewelry, I couldn’t help but feel a little relieved. Why? They seemed manageable! Customers should be able to partake in these trends and sometimes, if they’re too far-fetched (some of the more outrageuous statement necklaces, for instance), I just don’t see the average Jane donning them, especially in Scottsdale.

But as you’ll see from JCK’s list, many of the items are affordable and not too over-the-top.

    Here’s an example:

Subtle Drop Earrings. They make a slightly bigger statement than last year’s studs—widely worn on the red carpet—and coordinate with many a fashion silhouette, so the petite drop earring is a style to watch this year. They also made a splash on the red carpet in 2012 at the Golden Globes, and will nicely complement spring’s full skirts, and romantic and flouncy effects.
