  • Dolce & Gabbana Combine Provocative Storytelling with Jewelry

This video definitely contains an edge of mystery and sexiness while highlighting the beauty of Dolce & Gabbana’s beautiful jewelry.

Giampaolo Sgura directs Bianca Balti and Simone Nobili for Dolce&Gabbana Jewellery video. A statement of faith, a wave of passion, or a celebration of love: the most precious feature of any jewel is the emotion it stirs in the woman who wears it. For their first ever jewellery collection, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have combined the most exquisite materials — tri-colour gold, rubies, sapphires and pearls — with the most significant symbols at their disposal.

  • A Spirit-infused Boheme Ring

Stumbling over this article in JCK this am, I had to do a double take. What a unique ring with a quirky yet romantic feel to it! It’s a great example of the many creative directions a ring can take.

If you’re looking for a particular ring with your own stamp of creativity on it, contact us. Let’s create your own private masterpiece:

Alexandra Alberta Bohemia Belle dangle ring

The name Belle has never been more wonderfully exemplified than in this ring from Alexandra Alberta. With its fairytale color combination, which pairs a peachy pink tourmaline with amethyst in a setting that dangles freely at the center like colorful charms, the ring is the epitome of pretty. It has a hammered finish in satiny 18k rose gold-plate over sterling silver; the texture adds an interesting element without overdoing it.

The ring is from Alexandra’s Bohemia collection, “inspired by various places and spirits around the world.”

  • A New Line of Jewelry…Created by a Chimp

In this fascinating piece, we discover that humans aren’t the only beings to appreciate adornment.

A chimpanzee named Julie decided she’d separate herself from her fellow chimps by making her own earrings…out of grass.

Over in Zambia there’s a chimpanzee named Julie who has launched her own line of jewelry.

And it’s a howling success. Now just about everybody wants a piece of it.

Julie’s innovation came to the attention of scientists a few years ago when Edwin van Leeuwen of the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in The Netherlands noticed something different about Julie.

She wandered around Zambia’s Chimfunshi Wildlife Orphanage Trust sanctuary with a single blade of grass hanging from one ear. It wasn’t an accident, it’s not as though a piece of grass latched onto her ear as she stumbled through the tropics.

She wore it all the time. So if it fell out, she had to replace it. Whether she was playing, grooming, sleeping or doing whatever chimps do in the jungle, she had that blade of grass hanging from one ear.

That alone is pretty surprising, but what followed next was really “baffling,” van Leeuwen said in an email.

A short time after Julie was noticed with her ear’s new appendage, her son Jack was observed wearing a blade of grass, hanging from one ear. Soon Julie’s friends Kathy, Miracle and Val, followed suit.

  • Inside Buccellati – Milan’s Most Popular Jewelry Boutique

These pieces are positively stunning! Take note of the ornate old-world detail and focused artistic expression from one of the most well-known jewelers in Milan:

Milanese locals know Buccellati as the country’s most exclusive luxury jewelry brand – a great feat in Italy as the country is so known for high-end design. The Buccellati boutique on Via Monte Napoleone 23 houses some of the most beautiful objects on the street that in this impressively sized showroom range from tabletop silver goods to one-of-a-kind jewelry creations.

While the company is very much a product of the 20th century, their items are almost wholly inspired by Italy’s rich design history, including elements ranging from the Roman Empire to the Renaissance.

  • Cannes Festival Jewelry Highlights – Statement Earrings & Simplicity

Wouldn’t you just love to attend the Cannes Film Festival? Something about the lush French landscape makes it seem that much more luxurious than the Oscars. But just like any award ceremony, fashion (oh and the films) are the centerpiece:

Statement earrings were a big trend on opening night, and so was chic simplicity. Kendall Jenner stunned in a black Chanel gown with modern arty black-and-white overlay bodice and Chopard diamond cluster earrings. Zoe Saldana was also a vision in a pleated white Victoria Beckham gown with gold chain detail at the waist. And Gucci girl Blake Lively wore a Bordeaux pleated silk chiffon gown from the Premiere collection, with Lorraine Schwartz climbing vine earrings.

Paz Vega took the jewelry theme in a different direction, wearing a pearl-embellished Elie Saab Couture column gown in a modern-looking shorter length (and Chopard diamond drop earrings). Nicole Kidman, who stars in the “Grace of Monaco” film that’s being almost universally panned, wore an Armani Prive gown with a bustier encrusted in crystal baguettes and pearls (and Harry Winston diamond line earrings).
