  • Smart Shopping Tips for Black Friday

It’s almost here. If you listen hard enough, you can hear the sounds of cash registers and stampeding feet. But if you play it smart, you can take advantage of the deals without the crowds.

    1. Arm Yourself With Apps Like Decide.

ABC News and the Perillos [bloggers for CTWorkingMoms.com] were surprised to learn that online prices fluctuate hourly. The price of a Sony camera dropped three times — almost $50 — in the course of 12 hours.

At the store, the Perillos saw a digital camera they’d been considering. Using the Decide app, they scanned the barcode and then searched through thousands of pieces of information to see whether they should buy it now or wait for a lower price.

    2. Click to Compare

A Tigger toy — at the top of the girls’ holiday list — that Sarah Perillo had found at Target for $39.99 was marked down to $28.99. Using an app called Red Laser, she scanned the bar code and found it for a lower price — $21. Because Target matches competitors’ online prices this year, Sarah Perillo took it home for $21.

  • Jewelry for a Tasteful (or Tacky) Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving Day is a jewel, to set in the hearts of honest men; but be careful that you do not take the day, and leave out the gratitude.

    ~ E.P. Powel

Most holiday jewelry can seem a little, how do I put it…tacky? But sometimes tacky is just the ticket. I dug up a few Thanksgiving jewelry pieces. Tell us what you think!

  • How to Create an Emergency Backing for your Earring

I must confess: I wrote this blog out of personal necessity and not for our viewing audience per se. The story goes like this: I went on a trip with only one pair of earrings…and forgot the backing for one of them.

The answer, in true Internet fashion, was only a click away:

    Step 1

Find a pen or pencil that has a miniature eraser on the end of it.

    Step 2

Pull off the eraser and cut or pinch it down to a smaller size.

    Step 3

Stick it on the back of your earring in place of the original backing. Push the eraser up tight against the back of the earring to ensure it is properly in place.

  • From The Archives – Custom Made Cufflinks

One of our very good friends gave us visitation rights to a couple of pair of cuff links we made for him a number of years ago. We’re working on some custom cuff links for another friend of ours and we needed some measurements from these.  Both pair are original designs of ours.

This pair features Tahitian and white pearls along with blue sapphires in 18kt yellow gold.

This pair features white gold bamboo and hand carved (Italian carved, Arizona material) turquoise stones.
