  • George Michael – Fashion Icon Dies at 53

Another great talent leaves us in 2016. Pop great George Michael (born Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou) passed away peacefully in his home on Christmas Day in Goring, England at 53 years old.

“It is with great sadness that we can confirm our beloved son, brother and friend George passed away peacefully at home over the Christmas period,” read a statement sent to USA TODAY by Michael’s London-based publicist, Connie Filippello. “The family would ask that their privacy be respected at this difficult and emotional time. There will be no further comment at this stage.”

As the world grieves, we’d like to take a moment to review Michael’s words of wisdom over the years.

Because of my brushes with the press and the law, and also some of the bereavements I’ve gone through that were made public, I have been forced into revealing a lot more of myself than I ever had before. Therefore, when I step out on stage, people are seeing a much more rounded individual. They’re seeing someone with strengths and weaknesses. And it’s made a huge difference, in terms of the warmth in the shows. It’s absolutely incredible.

There is no such thing as a reluctant star. Stars are almost always people that want to make up for their own weaknesses by being loved by the public and I’m no exception to that.

You’ll never find peace of mind until you listen to your heart.

  • Met Gala Jewelry Highlights

We’re still diligently pouring over the pix from Monday night’s Met Gala. And why wouldn’t we? The event itself not only serves as fundraiser for the renowned museum but also marks the opening of the Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibit…meaning amazing outfits and jewelry.

The Met Gala, formally called the Costume Institute Gala and also known as the Met Ball, is an annual fundraising gala for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City. It marks the grand opening of the Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibit. Each year’s event celebrates the theme of that year’s Costume Institute exhibition, and the exhibition sets the tone for the formal dress of the night since guests are expected to choose their fashion to match the theme of the exhibit. Each year the event also has honorary celebrity event day chairpersons. – Wikipedia

  • Illuminated Gown of Light at the Met Gala

Clare Danes takes home an easy win at last night’s Met Gala, wearing an impossibly gorgeous baby glue gown (designed by Zac Posen) that actually lit up. The theme? Technology as it relates to fashion. We agree–winner all the way!

The 37-year-old donned a custom Cinderella style Zac Posen gown that actually lit up all along the skirt and bust, with the help of a weighty 30 battery packs.

The large number of mini battery packs were intricately sewn into the fibre optic organza dress to make the garment glow in the dark. However, while the actress’ dress was unable to shimmer on the staircase, designer Zac took to Instagram earlier that day to share his creation in all its lit-up glory.
