  • A new vision of turquoise

Turquoise has a very unfortunate bad rap. It’s often considered passe and hokey, evoking a bygone 70’s era fashion style (think early Cher or Jimi Hendrix). Because of its early popularity, turquoise jewelry was often mass produced and poorly designed. But at its essence, turquoise is a wonderful versatile and stunning gem that many designers have brought back to life in a wide array of fashionable and contemporary forms.

  • Why Split Shank? That is the Question…

Okay before we get into the whys of a split shank, let’s take a moment to look at one of our latest pieces, shall we?

Sweet, isn’t it? And split shanks are increasing in popularity. Why?

Well megastar Beyonce may have helped matters with her  off the hook engagement ring.

    index
The diamond is an emerald cut; it hugs her finger on a delicate split-shank platinum band.

Shanks can be twisted, woven or just plain metal. Often you’ll see pave diamonds on the shank, but that’s not always the case. Some come together at the back of the ring, though some maintain the split all the way around. The center stone is generally very secure in this type of setting, so its a good choice for a larger stone.

Split shanks are also unique and leaves more room for individual touches in custom design.

We love custom designing split shank rings so if you’re not convinced, call our studio and we’ll extol their virtues even more!

  • Be a Diamond in Spite of your Inclusions

Diamonds often have what some consider “flaws.” They’re called inclusions. And they’re not necessarily always a bad thing. Inclusions may be considered the “birthmark” of the diamond. They’ll be there forever, distinguishing the gem from any other.

The next time you spot a perceive a flaw in yourself, reframe it. These personal “inclusions” are what makes you distinctly you. When you reshape your thinking in this way, you’re able to remember that you are a bright and beautiful diamond, not in spite of flaws, but because of these one-of-a-kind distinguishing features.

  • Met Gala Jewelry Highlights

We’re still diligently pouring over the pix from Monday night’s Met Gala. And why wouldn’t we? The event itself not only serves as fundraiser for the renowned museum but also marks the opening of the Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibit…meaning amazing outfits and jewelry.

The Met Gala, formally called the Costume Institute Gala and also known as the Met Ball, is an annual fundraising gala for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City. It marks the grand opening of the Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibit. Each year’s event celebrates the theme of that year’s Costume Institute exhibition, and the exhibition sets the tone for the formal dress of the night since guests are expected to choose their fashion to match the theme of the exhibit. Each year the event also has honorary celebrity event day chairpersons. – Wikipedia
